Touch Guitar

The Touch Guitar is an adaptation of the Chapman Stick. It is essentially a double neck guitar/bass that fuses the two necks together into one big board and is played by tapping or hammering the strings with the fingers directly onto the fretboard. It has the range of a piano and can produce very low earth shaking bass as well as high soaring leads. I play solo Touch Guitar shows that feature my own ambient compositions, jazz and pop standards, and spacy loops in which I record and overdub parts in real time. I was first exposed to this instrument as a fan of legendary bassist Tony Levin of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel, who frequently performs on Chapman Stick.
